Hi there! Thanks for stopping by Chicago Black Cat. We're Mikita, Dahlia and Ravi, three cats living in Chicago.

Home: Welcome

Shelter kitty adopted at 1.5 years old

We were living in our small Chicago apartment when Rich (Cat Dad) convinced me, Andrea (Cat Mom)  that we needed a cat in our lives. Full story here. At the shelter a cute little black cat jumped up on Rich's lap; we knew he was our guy!

Mikita is named after #21 Stan Mikita, a former Chicago Blackhawks player and Hockey Hall of Famer.

MIKITA

DAHLIA

Retired breeding Maine Coon adopted at 5 years old.

Dahlia is the second cat we adopted, 4 years after Mikita. She seemed smart, wise, and playful. We thought she'd be a good match for Mikita. Plus, they were the same age!

We wanted to give Dahlia an awesome retirement from being a breeding queen. She's a floofy sweetheart!

HELPFUL TIPS, STORIES AND INFORMATION ABOUT...YOU GUESSED IT, CATS!

Hi, I'm Andrea

I'm married to Rich, a red bearded man who makes people laugh. In December 2014, we adopted a little black cat we named Mikita. Rich and I decided to feed him REAL food and make it a point to help him live an enriched, thriving life.

I created the Instagram account for Mikita, @chicagoblackcatthinking it would be fun to show his bright personality and the way we care for him. I'm sharing all those tips with you guys!  Still curious?
